Challenge

How can we give local vendors an easy way to showcase their inventory and sell directly to interested customers?

Local vendors such as thrift stores and consignment shops typically don't have the time or staff to support online sales or local delivery. These are opportunities to increase sales and reach interested customers.

I set out to create a prototype of a mobile web application as a place for customers to easily find sustainable and affordable items from vendors in their area.

Action
1

Defining product objectives and requirements

I began by writing a high-level overview of the product. Next, I identified key objectives, user scenarios, and feature requirements.

2

Sketching a wireframe

I began by writing a high-level overview of the product. Next, I identified key objectives, user scenarios, and feature requirements.

3

Developing a brand

I took inspiration from the sustainable mission of the product and from common thrift store tones to develop a brand identity including a logo, color palette and typography.

4

Creating a high-fidelity prototype

I utilized the wireframe as a basis to create high-fidelity prototypes for the identified pages.

5

Identifying scalable components

I utilized the wireframe as a basis to create high-fidelity prototypes for the identified pages.

Result

Rehash is a fully prototyped product concept

This project utilized a wide range of my skills from research to product management to UI/UX design. Ultimately, I was able to develop a high-fidelity prototype for a product concept I developed. This was a great exercise to grow my skills.

Thus far I have only designed the primary pages of the marketplace application, but there is an opportunity to expand on the idea much further.
